HLstatsX - Download

HLStatsX Installation Documentation by gurux

Im going to assmune your installing HLstatsX on a fedora core 4 machine with no web sever/mysql etc installed, and you want to install it into the home directory of a user called bob. This is wrote for Counter-Strike: Source, but could easily be adapted.

Notes:
- The commands i list will begin with either # or $, # indicates run the command as root - and $ indicates run the command as bob.
- Anypart of a command surrouned by <> indictates you should replace the part and the <> with the required option.
- ~ can be included in a command and refers to the current users home directory so pay attention to the # and $'s.
Installing the required programs.
- The easist way is to use yum (on other linux distributions you have to use other package managers):
```
# yum -y install httpd php mysql mysql-server php-mysql php-gd perl unzip
```
- Now you will want them to start up with linux:
```
  # /sbin/chkconfig httpd on
  # /sbin/chkconfig mysqld on

  # /sbin/service httpd start
  # /sbin/service mysqld start
```
- Next you want to setup some stuff with mysql:
```
# mysqladmin -u root password '<your new mysql root password>'
# mysql -u root -p
```
- Enter your password when prompted and run the following commands from inside mysql:
```
 mysql> DROP DATABASE test;                          
 mysql> DELETE FROM mysql.user WHERE user = '';    
 mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
 mysql> CREATE DATABASE hlstats; 
 mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON hlstats.* TO 'hlstats'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED 
        BY '<a password for your hlstats mysql user>';
 mysql> quit 
```
- Next we want to create a new document root (where our web pages are stored) and make apache use it:
```
$ mkdir ~/www
```
- Im going to use vi to edit files, if you havent used it before INSERT switches you between modes, ESC gets you off the text so you can press : and then enter a command, typically commands are w - write, q - quit, ! - overide, so wq will save the file and quit and q! will quit without saving. See here for a better tutorial on using it: http://www.google.com.
```
# vi /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
```
- Now you need to find where certain options are and make them read the folllowing:
```
User bob
Group bob
DocumentRoot "/home/bob/www"
Directory "/home/bob/www"
```
- Next up is the php config:
```
# vi /etc/php.ini
```
  Here you need to make the following changes:
```
turn allow_call_time_pass_reference = On
register_globals = On
register_long_arrays = On
magic_quotes_gpc = On
magic_quotes_runtime = Off
doc_root = "/home/bob/www/"
file_uploads = Off
```
- Also we want the apache server now running as bob to have access to various things installed for the old apache user, so do the groups command on bob and find out what groups he is currently in, then add him to them all again but with the addition of the apache group:
```
# groups bob
# usermod -G apache,<group2>,<group3>,<etc>,bob
```
- Now you should restart apache and test it with a phpinfo() page, this is the one place with the <> are meant to be there:
```
# apachectl restart
$ echo '' >/home/bob/www/phptest.php
```
- Now if you gotto http://<your server ip>/phptest.php you should have a nice page with loads of info about your php config.
Installing HLstatsX
- Thats the hard bit over, now we need to download HLstatsX, update the database, configure hlstats, and start it:
```
$ cd ~
$ mkdir hlstatsx
$ cd hlstatsx
$ wget http://www.hlstatsx.com/downloads/HLstatsX_V1.01.zip
$ unzip HLstatsX_V1.01.zip
$ rm HLstatsX_V1.01.zip
$ mv ./web ~/www/hlststatsx
$ mysql -u root -p hlstats < ./hlstats.sql
$ mysql -u root -p hlstats < ./game_css.sql
```
- Now to configure HLstatsX, this is done through two files hlstats.conf, and config.php, im not going to go into much detail about what needs doing as the installation page and the comments in the files cover this:
```
$ vi ./perl/hlstats.conf
```
  Here you will want to make the following changes to get the database working:
```
DBHost "localhost"
DBUsername "hlstats"
DBPassword "<that password you chosen before>"
DBName "hlstats"
```
  The rest of the settings you should play about with, and of course you have to add your server to the array.
- ```
$ vi ~/www/hlstatsx/config.php
```
  Here you want to make the following changes:
```
define("DB_NAME", "hlstats");
define("DB_USER", "hlstats");
define("DB_PASS", "<that password you chose again>");
define("DB_ADDR", "<your servers ip>:3306");
define("INCLUDE_PATH", "/home/bob/hlstatsx/hlstatsinc");
define("IMAGE_PATH_URL", "http://<your server ip>/hlstatsx");
define("INGAME_PATH", "/home/bob/hlstatsx/hlstatsinc/ingame");
```
  Theres also settings here for the flashbox animation, and google map, have a look around.
- You can goto http://<yourserver ip>/hlstatsx/hlstats.php?mode=admin and login in with admin 123456, mess around with the colour settings etc, but make sure you add your server and rcon password.
- If you get a blank page/error, check you made the right changes to php.ini and restarted apache, also if you are running SELinux you will need to run the following commands:
```
$ chcon -R -h -t httpd_sys_content_t ~/www
$ chcon -R -h -t httpd_sys_content_t ~/hlstatsx
```
- Now you can start hlstats.pl:
```
$ ~/hlstatsx/perl/run_hlstarts start
```
- To set it up so daily awards are calculated do the following:
```
# crontab -e
```
  and add this line:
```
30 00 * * * cd /home/bob/hlstatsx/perl; ./hlstats-awards.pl
```
- Now all that is left to do is tell source to foward the infomation, you need to edit the file called autoexec.cfg in your game servers cfg directory to include the following lines:
```
log on
logaddress_add <your server ip>:27500
```
- Hopefully all been well you can view stats at http://<your server ip>/hlstatsx/hlstats.php.
